Anal Sex
What is Anal Sex?
Anal sex is a type of sexual intercourse in which one person inserts his penis into the anus of another person for sexual pleasure. Even though anal sex was marginalized throughout history, it is nowadays widely accepted in the context of straight, gay, and bisexual relationships.
Even though there’s no risk of pregnancy when practicing anal sex, this type of intercourse still poses the risk of infections, sexually transmitted diseases, and bodily injury.
Preparing for Anal Sex
Before having anal sex with your partner, it’s important to be well-prepared:
- Communicate your intentions clearly with your partner, as nobody likes to be caught by surprise when it comes to anal sex;
- Use plenty of lube, as the anus is not naturally lubricated like the vagina;
- Start slow, using your fingers or a vibrator to stimulate the areas around the anus;
- Make sure to clean the anal area thoroughly with warm water and mild soap before sex.
Stay Safe!
Anal sex poses several health risks, so it’s vital to stay safe. To prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, make sure to use a condom; don’t ever go bareback unless you have complete trust in your partner.
To prevent infection, don’t ever switch directly from anal sex to vaginal or even oral sex. Anal sex may expose you to bacteria in the feces, so personal hygiene is of the utmost importance.
Finally, please keep in mind there’s a small risk of pregnancy associated with anal sex, as semen can sometimes travel from the anus to the vagina.
