What is Bareback?

Bareback is a term used to describe sexual relationships without a condom, in which there’s no physical barrier between the two partners. It’s like riding a horse without a saddle: there’s nothing between you and the horse!

Even though the term bareback can apply to all kinds of condom-free sexual intercourse (including oral sex), it is normally used in the context of anal sex and is widely spread among the gay community.

Why Bareback Sex?

Bareback sex is more common than most people think, even among casual partners. Despite the risks, people choose to have sex without a condom because it’s more intimate, doesn’t kill the momentum, and is overall more pleasurable.

If you take all necessary cautions, bareback sex can be a game changer, with some people claiming that going bareback was the best decision they’ve ever made.

Staying Safe While Bareback

Bareback sex drastically increases the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, but it’s possible to go bareback and still be responsible. Here are some guidelines every bareback lover should follow:

• Get regular check-ups to detect any infections or diseases;
• Communicate with your partner to understand his/her take on bareback sex;
• Don’t go bareback unless you have a steady partner you trust.
