Cunnilingus
What is Cunnilingus?
Cunnilingus is a type of oral sex performed on the vulva and vagina using one’s tongue and lips to achieve sexual relief. It’s the direct opposite of a blow job, and it’s one of the most efficient methods for stimulating the clitoris and causing a woman to orgasm.
The word cunnilingus combines the Latin terms cunnus (vulva) and lingere (licking), but it’s quite a mouthful. For the most part, people refer to cunnilingus as “eating pussy.”
Giving the Perfect Cunnilingus
Popular among both straight and lesbian couples, cunnilingus is a bonafide art form. So, here are some tips for giving the perfect cunnilingus:
- Start slowly to set the mood, as most women require a minimum of 20 minutes of clitoral stimulation to climax;
- Increase the speed of your tongue and lip movements gradually to make your partner feel more excited;
- Utilize your fingers to stimulate the vagina and explore other areas of the vulva, not just the clitoris.
Finally, don’t get too caught up on whether your partner will orgasm or not. As suggested by Women’s Health magazine, this attitude may make the other person feel like cunnilingus is less of a pleasurable sexual act and more of a chore.
The Risks of Cunnilingus
Unfortunately, there is a dark side to cunnilingus too, as oral sex poses several risks to one’s health. Did you know, for example, that oral sex is now one of the leading risk factors for throat cancer? In addition, cunnilingus can give way to sexually transmitted diseases, oral herpes, and infections.
