Rimming

What is Rimming?

Rimming, also known as analingus, is a type of oral sex in which one person uses his or her lips and tongue to stimulate a partner’s anus. It’s the equivalent of cunnilingus, but for the anus, and is used as both foreplay and as a way to help men and women orgasm.

People who enjoy rimming have described the sensation of getting rimmed as “more stimulating than almost anything.” They also enjoy the idea of “breaking some unspoken social rule,” as ass-eating is still a taboo subject in certain circles.

Who is Rimming For?

Rimming is for everyone who enjoys getting their ass eaten/eat some ass! According to a 2021 survey by the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre in Australia, 25.5% of heterosexual males and 9.3% of heterosexual females reported performing rimming on a sex partner within the past three months.

Despite being taboo in certain circles, rimming has been growing in popularity and acceptance over the last few years, and it’s performed by all sorts of people, including gay and lesbian couples.

The Risks of Rimming

These are the most common risks associated with rimming, most of which arise from potential oral contact with feces:

  • Sexually transmitted diseases;
  • Hepatitis A, B, and C;
  • Bacterial diseases such as shigellosis;
  • Exposure to intestinal parasites;
  • Inflammations such as chlamydia.

If you’re rimming and want to perform genital oral sex right after, please make sure to wash your mouth first! Otherwise, you may end up giving your partner a urinary tract infection.
