NSFW
What is NSFW?
NSFW stands for Not Safe For Work, and it’s an acronym used to quickly flag content that is not appropriate for the workplace. For the most part, NSFW indicates the presence of some sort of explicit adult content, but it can refer to anything you wouldn’t like your boss or co-workers to catch you watching…
The Origins of NSFW
The term NSFW has been officially added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary since 2015, but it’s been a part of the Internet pretty much since the turn of the millennium. According to VICE, it started circulating in online forums circa 2003.
The need for the term NSFW originated mainly in popular feed-based forum websites like Reddit, where users could be exposed to both safe and unsafe content. Its goal was to ensure nobody unwillingly stumbled upon adult entertainment content (for example).
Curiously enough, the first versions of NSFW included now-forgotten acronyms such as NFBSK (Not For British School Kids) and Not Safe For Wife. The opposite of NSFW is SFW, standing for Safe For Work.
Best NSFW Resources
NSFW exists so people can avoid watching inappropriate content in situations where such is not convenient (like, for example, when they’re browsing Reddit in the workplace). But if you’re specifically looking for NSFW content, there are many cool places to find it:
- Pornographic websites: Popular porn websites such as Pornhub and xHamster are exclusively dedicated to NSFW content such as videos containing sexual acts and explicit images.
- VR porn platforms: Virtual Reality porn has come to stay and is the most immersive type of NSFW content around. It includes not only 360º videos but also realistic VR porn games.
- AI girlfriend apps: Most AI apps including AI girlfriends are rich in NSFW content, including everything from AI-generated NSFW art to explicit sexting.
- OnlyFans girls: From Sweden to Denmark, the best OnlyFans accounts thrive on NSFW content spanning everything from simple nudes to adult-only services such as one-on-one chats and Jerk-Off Instructions (JOI).
Oh, and please don’t forget: If you’re uploading any sort of adult material to websites that also contain SFW content, please flag it as NSFW so nobody ends up having trouble in the workplace!
