What is a Ball Gag?

A ball gag is a spherical mouthpiece, usually made of rubber or silicone, that’s used to cover a person’s mouth to restrict speech during sex. This popular sex toy is normally used in BDSM play to reinforce the power dynamics between two or more people.

Types of BDSM Gags

While the majority of BDSM gags are spherical, there are other types of gags to consider. Bit gags are the best-known alternative, consisting of a leather or plastic stripe similar to the one you’d find on a horse’s bridle.

Other popular types of gags include lip gags, in which the mouth is forcefully open for oral sex, gags with clamps for erogenous stimulation (especially around the nipples), and gags with a blindfold harness to restrict vision in addition to speech.
